SoulFire Haven ~ Litha

SoulFire Haven Festival ~ Litha

Date & Time: Friday, June 23, 2006 - Sunday, June 25, 2006
Gates Open: 10:00 AM
Wiley, Colorado

SoulFire Haven - sacred festivals bringing the old traditions of honoring the cycle of life and the changing of the seasons back into the view of the community.

Our mission is to provide a sacred haven for people of all communities and beliefs to come together and celebrate the changing of the seasons in the old ways. Specifically allowing for anyone to feel safe to be themselves within their personal beliefs and faiths.

SoulFire Haven festivals are for all 8 seasonal holidays.
~Imbolg, Ostara, Beltaine, Litha, Lughnadsa, Mabon, Samhain, and Yule.~

For Litha we are asking for a $10 donation at the gates to help pay for the portapotties and the meat for the Feast.

This is a weekend camping event. Please be prepared to bring all appropriate gear and supplies for you and those in your care. The weather in Wiley, CO tends towards about 15 degrees hotter than Denver, please keep this in mind when packing your clothes.

All ages are welcome! Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 16 without their legal guardian must provide emergency contact info.

There will be a small clothing optional area, because of the size of this space it will be first come, first serve. Not everyone is comfortable with open nudity and with our rule of observing personal boundaries, if you want to be bare - please stay in bare country.

The Main Ritual will be at sundown on Saturday and includes:
The traditional symbolic battle between the Summer and Winter Kings,
A Midsommer Feast
drumming, a bonfire, dancing and firespinning
(please bring fresh fruits/veggies to share at the feast.)

Workshops and the children's ritual will start at 1pm Saturday.
(Families with children - please bring a mason jar with lid or glass jar equivalent and something small and shiny for their ritual. They will be gathering water from the local creek and giving their gifts to the Goddess of the waters.)

A bathing/cleansing New Moon ritual will take place on Friday night. This is open to all and there is nudity involved, however, no one but the priest/esses providing the ritualistic bath to each participant individually, within a dome structure, will see the nudity.
This ritual is not sexual in any way - it is a chance to be cleansed by the Triple Moon Goddess ~ Diana/Selena/Hecate.

If it gets too hot for you during the day - Our host/ess have put forward the welcome to go into the air conditioning of their home and visit with our Mama Gaia - Vashti. She will be doing henna designs on anyone who would like one for free also. (Pregnant women get special treatment as our hostess is VERY pregnant and willing to share the bathroom in her house with others in a similar state. They call it the pregnancy privilege.)

Our main rules:
Respect other's personal boundaries, if you don't know - ask.
Leave No Trace
Respect other's beliefs - as you would like yours respected.
No commerce.
No Pets

If you would like to lead a workshop or smaller ritual specific to your tradition/path, please contact Moonfire immediately. Especially if it is to be done in skyclad - we must make sure to leave enough room for you in bare country. All workshops for SoulFire Haven Festivals are to be an opportunity to share your personal traditions and rituals with new people.

All drummers are welcome and encouraged, as are firespinners and Trance/Ambient DJs. If you would like to be a DJ for this event - please contact Moonfire ASAP.

Goto: for more information and to participate in the other holiday festivals.
